Safari Overview

The 14 Day Uganda Safari Adventure is set in East Africa’s quickest growing destination, the “Pearl of Africa” as refered to by Winston Churchill during his visit in 1907. On this exclusive Africa safari vacation, we’ll take you in both the African rainforest jungle and the golden African savanna plains, which no other destination in Africa can do in a single safari itinerary without crossing borders.

You’ll track the mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable forest and hike into the rainforest native communities to experience some of the arcane native cultures and people, commonly referred to as the Batwa people. Take nature walks that wash the soul and improve your health. Kibale Forest, where you’ll meet the chimpanzee bands that have attracted millions of travellers, researchers and the will be another rainforest attraction that we’ve prepared for you on this Africa Vacation. Guided nature walks, birding, community walks and the time you’ll sped with chimps will be part of of your Kibale exploration.

General FAQs

  • You can reschedule this trip as a private tour to any date up to 12 months at no cost.
  • A 30% deposit of the total tour price will be required to secure a booking, the balance being due 45 days before the tour departure date.
  • Bookings not secured by the appropriate deposit will be released.
  • Cancellation between 90 and 45 days of tour departure will incur a 20% of tour price penalty charge. Confirmed bookings cancelled within 45 days of the tour departure date or no show will incur 100% of tour price penalty charge.
  • Availability of accommodation and activities is not guaranteed; reservations will be made after receiving confirmation of the final itinerary and the payment of the requested deposit. Should any of the quoted accommodations not be available, we reserve the right to substitute it with an alternative suitable option, which might affect the final quoted price.
  • All clients who participate in this tour must be adequately covered by medical insurance as well as travel insurance to protect them in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Rates specified for this tour are subject to change without notice, however, every effort will be made to maintain them. In the event of any change of Government taxes or operating conditions that affect the rates we reserve the right to pass on these charges.

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Permits will be guaranteed ONLY upon receipt of the deposit (US$750 for both permits in Jan to Jun 2020 and US$900 in Jul-Dec 2020) since we need to immediately pay Uganda Wildlife Authority Offices in order to secure the permits.

Cancellations received on full payment:

  • More than 90 days before the tracking date, 25% cancellation fee
  • 89 to 46 days before the tracking date, 50% cancellation fee
  • 45 to 9 days before the tracking date, 75% cancellation fee
  • 8 to 0 days before the tracking date, 100% cancellation fee

Important: the minimum age required for gorilla tracking is 15 years whereas for the chimps the minimum age required is 12 years; in case of flu or of any other airborne disease the visitor will be not allowed to meet with the gorillas or the chimps.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival Entebbe International Airport

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a Nkuringo Safaris driver will pick you from the Airport and tranfer you to your hotel in Entebbe. (15 minutes)

Day 2: Fly from Entebbe – Kisoro – Native village Visit

Start your long fun filled exclusive Uganda Safari Adventure with an early morning transfer from your hotel to Entebbe International Airport for Aero link flight to Kisoro. The first part takes us through central Uganda. A view of beautiful landscape of mountains, hills with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest and the majestic chain of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Pick up from Kisoro Airstrip and be transferred to the lodge. In the afternoon proceed to Buniga forest for Batwa cultural experience

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest south sector

The highlight of your Uganda Safari Adventure starts when you wake early (06:00) have your breakfats and be at the trailhead in time for the gorilla tracking briefing. It’s about 100 meters from Clouds Mountain gorilla lodge to the visitors reception when tracking Nkuringo group southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Once there you will first receive a briefing and at 8.00am and then start the tracking.

Once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend an hour watching and learning from them. Your time in the forest cannot be pre-determined though, because every day is different from the previous based on weather patterns, gorilla movements and other factors considered.

On your return to your vehicle you will precede directly to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge. Visit the top of the world in the evening and on a clear day you can see a line of the 5 volcano mountains later retire your day at the lodge.

Day 4: Forest Nature Walk in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Take this opportunity to explore the continent’s oldest montane forest on a jungle nature walk accompanied by our local guides through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest one of the most diverse habitats on earth and home to 120 species of mammals, 200 varieties of tree, more than 50 reptiles and of course the higher apes.

Set off at 08.00 am with your private local guide and take on the Nkuringo Walking Safari activity into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park as part of the Kashasha River and Ivy River trails.

This is a full day walk where you’ll be hiking to the Munyaga River falls in the forest. The emphasis of this activity is for your walking guide to share his knowledge of the rainforest that you come into contact with and not simply an A to B. The walking distance is about 15 kilometres (9 miles).

The Uganda Safari Adventure rendezvous with your vehicle will be in the village of Nteko on the DR Congo border to be transported 10km (6 miles) back to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge.

Day 5: African Natives Community Walk & Boat Canoe

Depart Nkuringo after breakfast with your private Uganda Safari Adventure guide to start your community walk to Lake Mutanda having been dropped by your safari vehicle at Rubuguri Junction. Here, you’ll start your 9km walk to the north shore of the lake where the dugout canoe team will rendezvous at the Rwajenje landing site with you to complete a traverse of the lake over 2 and 1/2 hours to the southern shore. From the southern shore it is a 90 minute walk into Kisoro town.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga

Mount Gahinga National Park is with 33 km² the smallest national park but its flora and fauna and the three volcanoes offer a wide range of activities.

Your private Uganda Safari Adventure driver will transfer you to Ntebeko gate where you’ll start the Golden Monkey tracking activity. Golden Monkeys a unique species which can only be found on the volcanoes of the Virunga and in Nungwe forest in Rwanda. The tracking and viewing activity is generally conducted over a 4 to 5 hour window.

Optional activity – Mt Sabinyo Volcano Climb

After breakfast proceed to Mgahinga National Park head quarters for briefing to the start a Volcano climb of Mount Sabinyo. Mt. Sabinyo, at 3,669m, takes about eight hours to cover the 14km round trip, following a steep ridge up to the peak this trek will be conducted in the company of your Nkuringo Walking Safari guide. Mount Sabinyo, known locally as ‘Old Man’s Teeth’ because of its serrated rim, an extinct volcano and at 3645 meters it is one of the region’s highest peaks.

Day 7: Kisoro Flight to Queen Elizabeth NP

Have your early morning breakfast at 7:00 am, then transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for connecting flight to Kasese Airstrip. Meet with your driver guide to continue to the Park. Game drive en-route to your accommodation.

Day 8: African Natives Community Walk & Boat Canoe

Your first Uganda Safari Adventure day in the golden savanna will start with an early morning African game viewing. In the afternoon, after lunch, your driver will transfer you to the head of the Mweya Peninsular to take one of the most exciting Africa safari experience in Uganda, a boat launch safari on the Kazinga Channel.

Kazinga Channel shores are swarmed concentrations of hippopotamus, as well as herds of elephants, buffalo, and other bog and small animals that come to quench their thirst in the fresh river waters. The Kazinga Channel also attracts a tremendous variety of rare avian species including the African Eagle, Open-Billed Stork, and Pied Kingfishers.

Day 9: African Natives Community Walk & Boat Canoe

Have an early breakfast, and take on another Uganda Safari Adventure savanna game drive. View more African safari game as you catch them from their hunt expeditions.

Your private driver will gracefully drive onto the highway heading to Kibale forest NP. Enjoy the landscape as you drive along the Kaseses-Fort Portal highway south-western side of Uganda. Kibale forest National Park bares homage to a very large number of primates as you’ll find out the next day.

You’ll be driving about 3 – 4 hours from Kasese to Kibale.

After lunch in fort portal, you’ll shake off the long drive with a walk to the “top of the world” along crater lakes which this area is also famous for.

Day 10: Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Tracking Experience

Here’s your chance to take on your second Uganda Safari Adventure rainforest jungle challenge of finding the excited chimpanzee troop and keeping up with their daily natural habits. Can you take it? It’s really exciting and energy drenching but worth every moment.

Today you will track chimpanzees and will not only learn about them but also about the flora and fauna of this ancient rainforest reserve.

In the afternoon, you’ll take a walk through Bigodi community, found in the borders of Kibale Forest. Bigodi village is situated in the highlands of western Uganda, in the shadow of the Ruwenzori Mountains, the famous “Mountains of the Moon”. The community you’ll be visiting with is located about 40 kilometers south of the town of Fort Portal, and borders Kibale National Park.

Since 1992, the people of Bigodi have worked together as a community to open our natural beauty to eco-tourists and to bring our crafts and handiwork to the world. This will be your oppotunity to be part of this African community.

Day 11: Kibale to Murchison Falls NP (7-9 hours)

Have an early breakfast, drive via the Escarpment, enjoy the landscapes as you north bound to Murchison Falls National Park; This day will be a long driving day of 7-9 hours; we will have numerous stops to stretch your legs.

Enjoy a late evening game drive game through the Murchison Falls game tracks as you catch the predators into their evening hunting expeditions.

Day 12: Murchison Falls Game Drive

Another African savanna experience on this Uganda Safari Adventure starts after breakfast with a morning savanna game drive in the Murchison tracks. You may catch sight of; giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest and different species of birds. Look out for mammals like the graceful Roth child Giraffe, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Uganda Kob, Defassa Waterbuck, Buffaloes, Elephants, Warthog, Hippos, Oribi and when lucky a leopard and Lion among others.

After that exciting savanna game drive, you’ll take the morning delta boat safari ride to the bottom of the Murchison waterfalls. Look out for the Nile crocodile, hippos, water bucks and a variety of bird species. Upon reaching the bottom of the waterfalls you will disembark and climb/hike your way up to the Top of the Falls where you will be rewarded with amazing views of the Nile. Also be on the lookout for different bird species.

Day 13: Budongo Forest Chimpanzee Tracking

After an early morning breakfast, we will set off for Budongo Forest found in the southern sector of Murchison Falls NP, arriving just in time to pop your packed lunches.

After having your bellies nourished, you’ll proceed for Chimpanzee Tracking briefing with the UWA rangers, giving you instructions on the different behaviors as we approach the Chimpanzees in the wild.

Later after an hour or two with our closest cousins, we shall drive back the northern sector of Murchison falls National Park. We arrive the lodge just in time for dinner and get a good night`s rest in preparation for next days` activities.

Day 14: African Natives Community Walk & Boat Canoe

This morning, after your breakfast, you will enjoy a morning game drive in search of more savanna wildlife, later return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. You’ll be transfered to Entebbe via the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you’ll have your lunch and drive on to Entebbe.

Have your night at Papyrus Guest house and check out the next day for your flight back home.
