Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Buhoma Sector
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Price Range: $270 – $795 per night
Unspoiled and untamed, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the world’s last remaining rich ecosystems. It is spread over a series of steep ridges and valleys that form a protective habitat for the mountain gorillas, the main attractions in this pristine jungle. The Buhoma section of the forest is home to five Mountain Gorilla families. Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is one of the only two lodges located inside Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, at the entrance, providing an excellent vantage point to starting the excellent gorilla activity at Buhoma trailhead.
Ecologically respectful, contemporary, and yet classic in style, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp blends in sensitively with the dramatic African mountain landscape. What is most revered by its guest are mountain gorilla surprise visits on the lodge’s lawn.
The lodge’s prized lounge overlooks the rainforest with a raised natural platform built for open air-dining. A full English and continental breakfast are served before your morning activity, complemented with delicious packed lunch including fresh fruit, sweet and savory delights to take with you.
Once back at the camp, enjoy drinks under the stars by the roaring campfire as you discuss your fantastic adventure. All meals are à la carte and served in the bar and dining area overlooking the rainforest. Chef Medard serves a silver service dinner with three courses each evening.
Accommodation at Sanctuary
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp’s comfortable canvas spaces are dressed with indigenous prints and furniture made from natural materials. Beds are draped in neutral-toned linens, and local artifacts set a scene that ensures memorable moments both inside and out of the accommodation. Each tent has a spacious, stone-walled bathroom with private sections and a free-standing bath for a relaxing soak after a day’s trekking.
The camp’s sunrises are brought out by the tropical emerald feel of the forests lighting up the camp’s tents like an enchanting village. The camp’s small size retains an intimate, exclusive feel, enabling you to experience Africa’s jungle magic with the lightest of footprints yet with practically every mood.
