From the first airport pickup to the final wave at the lodge, your guide holds the thread of your journey. They manage timings, read the weather, work closely with park rangers, and open up the stories behind every landscape. Each is UWA-licensed, trained in first aid, and refreshed regularly on safety and guest care, with many starting out as porters or community trackers around Bwindi.

While guides and hosts are out front, a quiet team in Entebbe keeps everything moving. They sit close to our vehicle yard and workshop, track routes across Uganda and Rwanda, watch timings, and step in early when weather, roadworks, or airline changes try to interfere with your plans.
The Entebbe Operations Hub
Based in Kitala, our Entebbe hub brings planners, reservations, logistics, and accounts under one roof. Vehicle allocations, driver briefings, airport transfers, and payment schedules are handled from a single room, so decisions are made quickly and the right person always knows what’s happening on your file.
Fleet, Safety & Daily Checks
Our own safari vehicles are parked within the same compound, together with the workshop team. Morning checks, fuel planning, tyre and brake inspections, and radio or phone connectivity tests happen before guests step outside. If a route needs adjusting, operations can speak directly with your guide to protect your time in the field.
Permits, Payments & Paperwork
From this office, the team also manages gorilla and chimp permits, park entries, lodge payments, and the paperwork that keeps your journey compliant. By the time you arrive in Entebbe, documents, clearances, and backup copies are already in place, leaving you free to focus on the experience rather than the admin.

How We Hire, Train & Grow Our Team
Many of the people on this page have walked with Nkuringo for years. Some started as porters on the hills above Bwindi or in junior lodge roles and grew into guiding, operations, or management. Others joined from nearby communities around Entebbe and the parks, bringing local languages, stories, and an instinctive feel for these places.
Local Roots & Long-Term Relationships
We look first to the communities we work with when building the team. Guides, walking guides, lodge staff, and support crews often come from the villages that surround Bwindi, Kibale, and Entebbe. Long-term contracts, fair pay, and predictable seasons help turn jobs into careers, and guests often meet the same faces when they return years later.
Women-Led, With Room to Rise
With woman-led ownership at the core and many senior roles held by women, the company culture naturally encourages mentorship. Younger women stepping into tourism see clear paths into sales, operations, guiding support, and lodge leadership. Coaching, shadowing, and regular one-to-ones help them grow into roles where they can lead journeys of their own.
Learning, Safety & Professional Standards
Training is part of the rhythm of our year. Guides refresh first-aid knowledge, vehicle-handling, and bushcraft; lodge and office teams work through guest-care, communication, and systems sessions. Safety briefings, route reviews, and debriefs after busy months keep standards alive in day-to-day decisions rather than on a page in a handbook.
Community & Gorilla Junction Foundation
Through Gorilla Junction and local partnerships, members of the team also help shape training programmes for youth and women around Bwindi. Porters, artisans, and aspiring hospitality workers gain skills and confidence, and some eventually join Nkuringo or partner lodges. Your safari supports that circle of learning and work around the parks.
